Edible Wild Mushroom

Sponge mushroom is the common name for an absolutely scrumptious wild mushroom found in woods of
Ohio.  This is a big family event every spring to see who can the find the most and the biggest.  This spring was pretty sparce as far as mushroom finding went, for my family anyway.  The mushrooms are only out a couple of weeks during the spring and they don't seem to repeat in the same area each year.

We soak them in sea salt and then saute them in butter.  They are great with steak, eggs just about anything cooked or grilled.  This is not a mushroom that  is eaten raw  or on salads.
