Black Cumin Seed Oil – An Ancient Healing Remedy

Black cumin seeds (Nigella sativa) have long been used as a powerful remedy against major illnesses in nearly every major medical tradition…from Ayurveda to Chinese herbalism to ancient Egyptian and Greek medicine.
The earliest written reference to black cumin (also called “blackseed”) is found in the book of Isaiah in the Old Testament (28:25-27). Here, the holy prophet Muhammad calls blackseed “a remedy for every illness except death.”
Now, science also confirms that blackseed is one of the most powerful medicinal plants known to man. black cumin seed oil
Several studies have also shown that black cumin seed extract may help fight cancer. In one recent study, black cumin seed oil was potent against pancreatic cancer, one of the deadliest and most difficult to treat of all cancers.
In the hundreds of studies conducted on black cumin, the seeds have been shown to contain compounds that fight disease by boosting the body’s production of…
  • Bone marrow
  • Natural interferon
  • Immune cells
And the Sloane Kettering hospital website has recently published exciting details on current anti-cancer research using black cumin seed oil.
Very few botanicals have shown the effectiveness of black cumin against a wide array of diseases and health conditions.

What is Black Cumin?

Black cumin is a member of the buttercup family. When whole, the seeds are dark, thin, and crescent shaped. They contain more than 100 chemical compounds, some of which are still unidentified.
The primary active compound in black cumin seed is crystalline nigellone. Other important active ingredients include:
  • Thymoquinone
  • Beta sitosterol
  • Myristic acid
  • Palmitic acid
  • Palmitoleic acid
  • Stearic acid
  • Oleic acid
  • Linoleic acid
  • Linolenic acid
  • Arachidonic acid
  • Protein
  • Vitamin B1
  • Vitamin B2
  • Vitamin B3
  • Folic acid
  • Calcium
  • Iron
  • Copper
  • Zinc
  • Phosphorous

Black Cumin Boosts Immunity and Health

Like the well-known herb Echinacea, black cumin is a powerful immune booster. But black cumin works very differently than Echinacea. Unlike Echinacea, black cumin does not negatively impact autoimmune disorders, and therefore can be used by those who suffer these conditions.
Black cumin is effective against allergies…multiple sclerosis…cancer…tuberculosis…and AIDS. Black cumin is also effective against liver problems, digestive imbalances, and asthma.

Black Cumin in History

  • Oil of black cumin was found in Tutankhamen’s tomb, and was used by Cleopatra for its valuable health and beauty benefits.
  • Hippocrates, the grandfather of modern medicine, considered black cumin a valuable remedy for digestive disorders.
  • Ibn Sina, the author of the famous Canon of Medicine, reports that black cumin stimulates the metabolism and supports recovery from dispiritedness and lethargy.
  • Ayurvedic medicine uses black cumin for a wide variety of diseases, including hemorrhoids, hepatitis, fever, diarrhea, cough, and tapeworm.

Modern Scientific Research on Black Cumin

Since 1959, black cumin has been examined in more than 200 different studies at universities and laboratories.
Research conducted at the Cancer Research Laboratory of Hilton Head Island in South Carolina showed that oil of black cumin fought cancerous tumors without the negative side effects chemotherapy.
The Hilton Head research showed that black cumin…
  • Increased the growth rate of bone marrow cells by a staggering 250%
  • Inhibited tumor growth by 50%
  • Stimulated immune cells and raised the interferon production (which protects cells from the destructive effect of viruses)
  • Has strongly antibacterial effects
  • Lowers the blood sugar level (essential for the treatment of diabetes)
In animal studies, two-thirds of mice given black cumin seed oil survived beyond 30 days despite deliberate efforts to induce cancer…while none of the mice in the control group survived.
Black cumin is especially effective for aggressive cancers whose growth depends on angiogenesis (the physiological process involving the growth of new blood vessels).

Dramatic Results for Asthma and Allergies…and Many Other Conditions

German research has shown that 70% of patients with allergic conditions—including pollen and dust allergies—benefit from treatment with black cumin seed oil. Long-term use (6 months or longer) often brings outstanding results.
Other uses of black cumin seed oil include for…
  • Acne
  • Colds and flu
  • Lethargy
  • Nervous tension
  • Tired legs muscles
  • Backache, arthritis, bruises, and rheumatism
  • High blood pressure
  • Stomach problems
  • Diarrhea
  • Hair loss
  • Headache
  • Earache
  • Intestinal parasites
  • Colic (babies)
  • Sinusitis
  • Skin fungus

Exceptional Health and Beauty Benefits with Internal and External Use

Experts often recommend taking one teaspoon of the spicy oil alone, taken alone or with hot tea one hour before meals once or twice daily.
However, many people choose to take the black cumin seed oil in capsule form. Whether taken as oil in tea or in capsules, black cumin seed oil not only supports health, but has beauty benefits as well, including stronger and more lustrous hair and fingernails after months of use. When used externally, black cumin seed oil can soothe psoriasis, eczema, and acne.
Black cumin seed oil is sometimes included in pre-made creams, or you can add it to your own favorite cream. Some people use black cumin seed oil preparations on burns or skin infections. It can also be used to moisturize the skin, relieve joint or pain, or to minimize wrinkles and other signs of aging.
Black cumin seed oil and pills can be found in many Indian and Lebanese food shops and online. According to Tony Isaacs, natural health researcher and author of Cancer’s Natural Enemy, consumers should shop carefully. Isaacs warns that, “Those who use black cumin seed oil should check labels and product information carefully.
Black cumin is commonly referred to as black cumin seed oil, black onion seed, black caraway, and black sesame seed, and other names, but only Nigella sativa is true black cumin.

WHEAT GRASS IS POWERFULL STUFF

What is Ghee? Making Ghee is Easy!

How to make ghee

Ingredients:
unsalted butter* – start with 500 g (or 1 lb of butter) if you are just learning. Otherwise you can make larger amounts at one time.
Equipment:
Medium or large pot (depending on amount of butter)
Cheesecloth
Large metal spoon
Clean and dry glass jars for storage
Method:
1. Melt the butter over medium heat in the pot.
2. Once melted the butter should start to bubble and sputter. Lower the heat so it doesn’t burn but not so low that it stops bubbling. Note that using a larger pot will help stop the butter from sputtering out all over your stove area.
3. Foam will rise to the top. You can stir occasionally to prevent burning and to check the progress. It is not necessary to scrape the foam off during the cooking process, and in fact I have read from Ayurvedic literature that the foam has medicinal properties. It will be strained off later using cheesecloth.
4. After some minutes it will start to have a nice popcorn-like smell and a whitish substance will form on the bottom of the pan. Use the large metal spoon to occasionally pull back the foam on the surface. When you can see all the way to the bottom of the pan and the white curds at the bottom start to turn brown, it is done.
5. Remove the pan from heat, let cool so it’s just warm (still liquid) before pouring into the jars.
6. Pour through cheesecloth into jars. The ghee should be a beautiful golden color with no whitish bits. Discard the brown curds from the bottom of the pan. When cool close the jar with the lid and store the ghee at room temperature. The ghee will be solid at room temperature. It keeps for many months as long as no water is allowed to get into the container.

Childbirth Pain FREE???

Yes you heard this right.  I have been reading that NATURAL CALCIUM in RAW MILK and NETTLES consumed during your 9 months prior to childbirth will almost or totally eliminate the morning sickness and the severe pain of childbirth.    I have not had children so I am not an expert BUT I have always admired women for being able to tolerate and live through childbirth.

This one woman in particular had a non painful delivery.  She also ate only grass fed meat and NO GMO and as healthy as possible.  She sipped on whole raw milk all day long.  And did drink Nettle tea.

It is worth looking into if you are thinking about having children.

Bleach Alternative recipe

Bleach Recipe

12 cups water
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 cup hydrogen peroxide

Mix. Add 2 cups per wash load or put in spray bottle and use as a household cleaner.

Coconut Milk recipe

Recipe: Homemade Coconut Milk instructions

4 cups water
1 1/2 – 2 cups organic shredded coconut
Heat water until hot (but not boiling).
Add shredded coconut and water to blender
If all of the water won’t fit, you can add it in two batches.
Blend on high for several minutes until thick and creamy.
Pour through a colander to filter out the coconut pulp, then squeeze through a cheese cloth or nut milk bag.
If you separated the water into two batches, put the strained coconut back into the blender with the second batch of water.
Use immediately or store in the fridge. Fresh coconut milk should be used within 3-4 days of making it for the best flavor and texture.
Note: If using fresh coconut use 100g – 300g coconut meat, brown skin removed, broken into small pieces and add coconut water equal to approximately three times the weight of your coconut.

Migraine Herbal Tincture Recipe

Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) abounds in my garden!
It is one of the most easy to grow medicinal herbs and has some pretty amazing healing properties…making it a great addition to the home pharmacy.
Historically, lemon balm has been used to treat all kinds of nervous system ailments and is known for it’s ability to:
  • calm an irritable child.
  • act as an antiviral in treating cold sores due to the herpes virus.
  • heal wounds and protect the skin.
  • treat the symptoms of the common cold and flu when combined with other medicinal herbs.
  • relieve the symptoms of migraine headaches, anxiety, depression, and insomnia.

Likewise, feverfew is unbeatable when it comes to treating the common headache, migraines, stress/tension headaches, and those headaches associated with PMS symptoms. It truly is a wonder herb and a must in the garden of those who suffer these ailments.

Inattentive, Moody, or Even Violent? You or Your Child May Be Suffering from Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity / All Body Ecology Articles

Mood and Behavior May Be the Only Indicators of Gluten Intolerance
Many patients diagnosed with celiac disease also deal with behavioral and neurological disorders.
Patients with schizophrenia and children with autism show a marked improvement when placed on a gluten-free diet.
Celiac disease is an autoimmune condition that is marked by an immune response to the body’s own intestinal cells.
Autoimmunity is an inside job, and disease comes from a confused immune system, rather than an infectious bug. During a flare-up, the immune system will tag cells lining the small intestine and begin destroying them.
According to the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness, 3 million Americans have celiac disease. And symptoms are not only limited to the gut. Many of those with celiac disease also deal with depression.
As it turns out, there is something called non-celiac gluten sensitivity. It affects as many as 18 million Americans.
Non-celiac gluten sensitivity has all the symptoms of celiac disease, but a doctor cannot diagnose it with standard celiac tests. These patients will have negative lab results, and a biopsy of the small intestine will reveal nothing remarkable.
However, these patients only respond to a gluten-free diet.
Like celiac disease, those with non-celiac gluten sensitivity have a physical response to gluten - except they may never know it. This physical response could appear to be nothing more than anger management issues, depression, or unexplained mood swings.
Patients with schizophrenia and children with autism show a marked improvement when placed on a gluten-free diet. So much so that results have encouraged researchers to investigate the link between mood disorders and gluten. (1)(2)

Transitioning to a gluten-free diet could help a child with unexplained behavioral issues like mood swings, depression, and even violence.
Other signs of non-celiac gluten sensitivity include:
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches or foggy mind
  • Tingling or numbness in hands and feet
  • Muscle spasms
  • Joint pain
  • Missed menstrual periods
  • Itchy skin rash or eczema
  • Acne
  • Constipation or diarrhea
  • Gas and bloating

What Is Gluten?

The good news is that your doctor may no longer seem mystified or dismissive when you explain the gluten-free diet. This is because many journals are now publishing material on the effects of gluten on mood and behavioral disorders, as well as non-celiac gluten sensitivity. (3)(4)(5)
Gluten is blend of proteins, gliadin and glutenin. It is found in not only wheat but also in related grains, such as barley and rye. Gluten gives food structure, chewiness, and texture.
While breads and pasta obviously contain gluten, you may be surprised to learn that food producers use gluten to make things like imitation meats, ketchup, and ice cream.
It is tough to avoid gluten. And for many, it is simply not worth the trouble.
Non-celiac gluten sensitivity is not the same as a wheat allergy.
A wheat allergy is diagnosed using an IgE (immunoglobulin E) blood test. IgE is a class of tags that the immune system uses in an allergic response or hypersensitivity that can affect the skin, the respiratory system, or the gut. Those who have symptoms of gluten intolerance may test negative for a wheat allergy.
So far, there are no pharmaceutical cures for celiac disease and non-celiac gluten sensitivity. The only treatment for celiac disease and non-celiac gluten sensitivity is a 100% gluten-free diet.
Because there are no laboratory tests that specifically identify gluten sensitivity, diagnosis and treatment are an elimination diet.
If you are sensitive to gluten, besides wheat, you will also want to watch out for:
  • Semolina
  • Malt
  • Groats
  • Bulgur
  • Muesli
  • Durum
  • Spelt
  • Einkorn
  • Rye
  • Barley
  • Oats, which can be contaminated with gluten

Our Children at Risk

These days, many parents of children with behavioral disorders are finding themselves with limited options when it comes to soothing their child’s needs. What do you do when your little baby suddenly becomes a violent and hysterical toddler?
Fortunately, new research over the last 10 years has revealed that emotional sensitivity and behavioral disorders in both children and adults respond, sometimes completely, to a gluten-free diet.
If your child has non-celiac gluten sensitivity, chances are that you will welcome the (sometimes) difficult transition to a gluten-free diet.
Often, changing your child’s diet means changing the diet of your entire family.

3 Steps to Transition to a Gluten-Free Diet

1. It’s okay to start slow.
Sometimes people and especially children get hooked on one or two foods. Transitioning to gluten-free foods may seem impossible. If you start slow, the process will naturally unfold and ends up being easier than you anticipated.
I recommend adding coconut water kefir to your diet daily and to whatever juice your child drinks. This one step will inoculate the gut with beneficial bacteria, which will dampen the desire for sweet and bready foods.
2. Avoid gluten-free flours and specialty foods.
While gluten-free breads, pastas, and flours may sound tempting, it is best to avoid them altogether. Many of these replacements are full of sugar and refined oils. Both excessive sugar and refined oils can keep the body in an acidic state, which inhibits the healing process.
3. Approach the change in diet with dedication.
It may take some time for the signs of gluten sensitivity to calm down. As you and your family transition to a gluten-free diet, stay positive. Once the trigger foods have left the system, the difference in mood, energy, and digestion is often quite noticeable.
If you need support in transitioning your child to a gluten-free diet, BEDROK - Body Ecology Diet Recovering Our Kids – is a tremendous resource for parents. For tips, insight, and wisdom, you can find more information at www.bedrokcommunity.org.

What To Remember Most About This Article:

Celiac disease is an autoimmune condition that plagues roughly 3 million Americans. Beyond digestive issues, those with celiac disease may also deal with depression. In a related condition, non-celiac gluten sensitivity affects close to 18 million Americans with similar symptoms of celiac disease, although it’s difficult to diagnose with standard celiac tests.
Non-celiac gluten sensitivity patients will respond well to a gluten-free diet to treat symptoms like depression, mood swings, and violence. Other symptoms include headaches, fatigue, joint pain, eczema, acne, and constipation.
If your child has an unexplained behavioral issue, it may be time to consider their diet. Transitioning to a gluten-free diet is possible with 3 simple steps:
  1. Start out slow. If you feel overwhelmed by making this change to your family’s diet, start by adding coconut water kefir to your diet and your child’s juice each day. This will support the gut with beneficial bacteria to reduce cravings for gluten-rich foods.
  2. Avoid gluten-free flours and products. Many gluten replacement products are chock full of sugar and refined oils, which will keep the body acidic to inhibit healing.
  3. Stay dedicated. It can take time for gluten to leave the system to calm gluten sensitivity. Body Ecology is here to help with our BEDROK community for parents

DIY Gunk Remover: Non-toxic recipe to remove sticky adhesive residue

How To Make A DIY Gunk Remover

DIY Gunk Remover: Non-toxic recipe to remove sticky adhesive residue

Oil Pulling Update Day7

As promised I am updating you on what I have experienced so far with oil pulling with sunflower seed oil.  I am on day 7.  I have to say the first day was kind of tough BUT I started working with my sprouts and the time passed really fast.  As soon as I wake up I put 1 tablespoon of sunflower seed oil in my mouth and swish it around and in and out of my teeth.  Your throat feels real dry at first.  I leave it in at least 15 minutes and sometimes 25.   As soon as I spit it out I brush my teeth and tongue with baking soda.

On day ONE I noticed that I did NOT need a Bentyl for my stomach.  NO stomach pain and no bloating.  AMAZING especially for me.  I have not had kefir or yogurt since my goats are dry and preparing to kid.  The kefir and yogurt keeps my stomach going but I am still bloaty.  But for the first time in YEARS my stomach is not bloated and no pain.  My teeth feel a lot cleaner even right now and it is 5 p.m.

Last night was the first REAL feeling of sickness that I have experienced since doing this.  Is it related to the oil pulling or sunius?  I am eating less for unknown reason.  I think that is about all I have noticed so far.  I will continue on for at least 2 months on sunflower seed oil and then I will switch oils.

I have been doing this for over 5 months now and I have only had stomach problems one time really. Which is unheard of for me.  I have graduated to coconut oil.  I really did not see much from the sesame seed oil.  The sunflower seed oil was powerful and I hope I see some improvement in my health from the coconut oil but I have only been on the coconut oil for a couple of days.  Oh, by the way I have only missed two days during the five months.
